Sex Class - STD's

  1. What does it mean that STD's are "asymptomatic"?

When STD's are asymptomatic it means that there are no signs of disease or disorder even though an infection is present.

2. List 4 things that put teens at a higher risk for STD's

  • being sexually active
  • having more than one sexual partner
  • having a sexual partner who has had multiple sexual partners
  • using alcohol or drugs (not being sober)

3. CRITICAL THINKING

I think that people 15-19 year old are more at risk of getting chlamydia than 30-34 years old because younger people have a higher sex drive. Rather than a 30 year old person who may not want sex as much.

4. Why do females catch STD's at a higher rate than males?

Because vagina are like sponges are more susceptible to infections

5. List things you can do besides abstinent sex

  • use condoms
  • get tested regularly
  • stay with one partner
  • get your partner tested

The Life of Harmony

Harmony McClory was born and raised in San Diego, California. She turned 16 in the foster system, and was in the foster system till she was 18. She was 16 when she had her first child. Her father and mother were drug addicts also in and out of jail during her childhood. Harmony realized that she didn’t want her family to end up how she did.

So she went to Lindsay Community Day School to receive her high school diploma. She got her diploma and went to San Diego City College. Where she received two degrees, one in child development and the other in Black history. Harmony is now a kindergarten teacher in San Diego. She was almost married, but noticed that she didn't want anybody to rule her life besides her. She and her 12 year-old daughter spend lots of time together and help other in the foster system

These islands are warmer December-April and cooler May- November. Every year it rains about 67- 117 inches. March is the windy period of the year. Humidity is at 80% daily. October- April there are chances of cyclones (a lot of wind that moves in a circular motion), earthquakes and volcanic activty at Fonuafo'ou or at Late'iki.
