The Life of Harmony

Harmony McClory was born and raised in San Diego, California. She turned 16 in the foster system, and was in the foster system till she was 18. She was 16 when she had her first child. Her father and mother were drug addicts also in and out of jail during her childhood. Harmony realized that she didn’t want her family to end up how she did.

So she went to Lindsay Community Day School to receive her high school diploma. She got her diploma and went to San Diego City College. Where she received two degrees, one in child development and the other in Black history. Harmony is now a kindergarten teacher in San Diego. She was almost married, but noticed that she didn't want anybody to rule her life besides her. She and her 12 year-old daughter spend lots of time together and help other in the foster system

My Personal Goals

  1. This term I'm very proud of myself for finishing my math credit. So now I don't have to do math until college.
  2. I could improve my grade, but i'd rather improve my attitude. I can improve my attitude by thinking positive or sharing dawn's good energy. HAHAHA!!!
  3. My academic goal for this term is to finish my independent books before January 2009.
  4. My two overall goals for this year is to finish high school and go to college.
  5. The goal I have for Ebony in the next six months is for her to play by herself on the playground.

Tonga-Climate

WHAT I LEARNED ABOUT TONGA'S CLIMATE

Tonga is known as an archipelago (a small group of islands) in the south Pacific Ocean. It has 176 islands, but only 36 are being used. Those 36 islands are divided into 3 main groups Tongatapu being the largest. The capital of Tongatapu is Nuku'alofa. The geographical coordinates for Tonga is 20 South and 176 West. These islands are warmer December-April and cooler May- November. Every year it rains about 67- 117 inches. March is the windy period of the year. Humidity is at 80% daily. October- April there are chances of cyclones (a lot of wind that moves in a circular motion), earthquakes and volcanic activty at Fonuafo'ou or at Late'iki. Most island also have limestone which is produced by the coral reefs.

WORDS AL!VE

YES ON PROP 2...

Hens laying eggs

Prop 2 demands that farm animals such as pigs, hen and cows should have the freedom to move around.

I say yes on Prop 2 because animals, like humans, should be able to move freely. When the animals can't move they develop no muscles and get dirty. So say no on Prop 2!!!

Life in Ancient Egypt:Games and Sports

...BALL GAMES
OF EGYPT...

  • Balls were made in many different ways. The outside layer was made of cloth, leather, of papyrus. The inside was made up of barley husk, straw, grass, rags, reeds, or horsehair.

  • With 3 balls, the girls like to juggle. The best jugglers could juggle with their arms crossed. Juggling also included throwing and catching while clapping between each throw.

  • Boy games were a lot rougher. Boys games included throwing a wooden ball then jumping and crashing down to catch it, also arm-wrestling, and leap frog. Tug-of-war was a popular game for boys.

  • Older boys did sports like wrestling fighting,target shooting with bows and arrows and QUARTERSTAFF {{a game played with long stick, the purpose of the game is to poke your opponent first}}
  • Most games were played by two, or only a few players.

HOW IS YOUR LIFE IN YOUR TOPIC SIMILAR TO TODAY?????

to me life is not the same today as it was back then. first, because girls can play sports with boys. second, people of today don't try to hurt anyone while playing a sport. third, today's balls are made so much better materials. last, i wouldn't want to play any of the games from back then.

My GOALS

MY GOALS FOR THIS SEMESTER ARE:

  1. TO GET ALL MY WORK DONE
  2. TO BE FOCUSED AND TO NOT LET ANYTHING GET TO ME
  3. BE ON TIME, LIKE ALWAYS

Ebony

I couldn't wait
Wait any longer for you to come

I couldn't wait
Wait to see your tiny facial expressions
To see all ten toes and fingers

On the day
The day you were born
I was nervous, but excited
In pain, but feeling the joy of a new life

On the day
The day you were born
Daddy was scared, but over thrilled
Supportive, but gave Mommy a hard time

On the day
The day you were born
Ebony, you were handed to Daddy
I knew from that moment you were
Daddy's girl

On the day
The day you were born
Grandma and Grandpa wanted you
Auntie B B and Uncle Keith loved you

Now
Now that you're here
I see my facial expressions in you
I look into your Daddy's eyes
I hold your hands, like Daddy's
Adore your toes like Mommy's

And won't
Won't let you go

My Letter to GOD

To: God

I hope you accept my past. I know I have wasted alot of my time, doing nothing. I know it's hard to lead me in right direction, but I know you have led me in right direction now and always will. I thank you for sending people to affect my life. For making me relize that I have so much to gain and so little to lose. Ebony and I, we're goin to get through anything and everything you bring us. Their are things I want to do for Ebony, that my parents never did for me. Then everything will be all good.

My Political Party...

i would be a DEMOCRAT because:

  • the Democratic Party has represented the interests of working families, fighting for equal opportunities and justice for all Americans.

  • Democrats fight for the security of our nation, strong economic growth, affordable health care for all Americans, retirement security, honest government, the civil rights, new jobs, and better education for the children.

DOL for Thursday 24...

  1. Gray Sotos experiences as a wrestler, led him to ask big questions about life.

  2. He wondered who he was; why he was here and what life was all about.

This Weekend

This weekend was boaring...

On Saturday I bought some new clothes for Ebony. Then I got to go to the park for one hour. Because if I did'nt go I would have burst. I also chose to go to the Martin Luter King Jr. parade.

On Sunday my housemates and I got into a fight and I got really mad. Soon I forgave them. After the whole weekend I felt really tired.

That is what happened on my weekend...
